to my brothers and sisters

I love you guys so much, I think Dad would have been very proud of us, and especially with Mom, during his funeral. She was his rock that day, the pure definition of Grace under pressure.

Calendar & Dad's Room

Let's try to fill in the calendar for this week so we know all shifts are covered. It would be nice to have someone there at all the meals to make sure he's eating. If at all possible, bring something and try to make it healthy. I'm working on getting a menu & recipes together for when he's home.

Can we set a day or night aside this week to paint & decorate his room? It shouldn't take long. Only the walls needs done. I'm gonna look for some inspiring pictures/posters to hang on the walls too.

Family Meeting

Billy is working tomorrow and not going to Jim's; so let's all go to mom's tomorrow night, bring some dinner and discuss this. Wendy makes some good points but there are many things to consider, and we have to base our decisions on what's best for dad's recovery, not on what we fear. I think we need to agree as a family on what to present dad with, and Dad should certainly have a say in decisions made on his behalf. Let's give him a couple days to lose the affects of the Ultram and offer both him and mom a plan that we have thought through and agree upon.

Feb 26

Mom was pretty upset with the way Dad was tonight, so she's staying at my house.
I truly believe it was the meds that made him so wonky.
When Doc Ukreet was there the other day, he said their main focus was to get him pain free, and stronger so he can go home.
I don;t know about you guys.. but if that were me I'd want to be home.
The nurse at Kennedy said patients do better at home.. their own bed, or chair, own food, etc...
and you're not being constantly reminded that you're sick.
I know it's scary to think of him coming home, but keep in mind he'll have a nurse come and check him..
The social worker said medicare will only pay for 2 or 3 or 3 or 4 days of nurses per week.. but he's got Aetna, too.. they should pick up a day or two, right?
Wan.. you're good at getting thru that kind of bullshit.. lets see if we can get a nurse paid for 7 days a week.
He's got no heart monitor on now, no IV, it's just the PT which they'll also come to the house.. and of course the medical care that is provided there.
I'd like to see him come home before the end of the normal 3 week stay. maybe around the 12th? The poor man has been in a hospital for 3 weeks...

New Site for Mom & Dad

Hi All,

I figured this blog site would be easiest for us to post comments and to add to the schedule. Click the calendar on the lower right to view and edit Mom & Dad's Driving Schedule. Also, view the "Best Foods" link under that. My friend Christina Pirello was given 1 month to a year to live with Leukemia, and cured her cancer with a Macrobiotic diet...no chemo, no radiation. It may be a little difficult while he's at CCHS, but when he gets home he should focus on these foods.

Anyone can write their own new post (click above right where it says "New Post") as well as comment on others.

Love,
Dee
